Fall + Winter Newsletter (2019)

Greetings from up north!

I absolutely love fall. I love the chill in the morning air, the strength of the afternoon sun, and the reunion with my slippers and favorite soup recipes. This September I'm not only transitioning into the fall season, but also into a new season of work and life.  For the first time in 30 years, there was no first day of the new school year for me. After 10 years of teaching, I've traded the rigid bell schedule for a more organic rhythm set by daylight hours and baby naps. I can't think of a more perfect place to enter this new season than up on the shores of Lake Superior, where we now call home.

As I begin this new season of life up north, I want to share many of the exciting things I have on my calendar. Highlights include teaching youth and adult classes at the Grand Marais Art Colony, art exhibits in Lutsen and Grand Marais, and two sales events in the Twin Cities area.

I hope you will join me for one or more of these events. Or, if not, then at least join me in the welcoming of a new season full of bright colors and cozy evenings!

OCTOBER

Solo Exhibit at Fika Coffee

Starting October 1st, my artwork will be on display at Fika Coffee in Lutsen.  Fika has the best coffee on the shore, so it always worth a stop! 

Printmaking Demonstration at The Big Lake Gallery

As part of Art Along the Lake, I will be demonstrating my printmaking process at The Big Lake in Grand Marais on Thursday, October 4 from 11am-4pm and Friday, October 5 from 11am-2pm. 

Youth Class: Exquisite Imagination at GMAC

On October 11, youth ages 8-12 can join me for a half day painting class at Grand Marais Art Colony. Click here for details and registration.

Sale: Onkka Pottery Fall Sale in Baldwin, WI

Join me at Onkka Pottery in Baldwin, Wisconsin (40 miles east of St. Paul) for my father's annual pottery sale. The sale will be October 26-27. Check social media closer to the date for more information.

NOVEMBER

Sale: 60 Artists on 50th in Minneapolis, MN

On November 2, Onkka Pottery and I will be at Burroughs Elementary School in southwest Minneapolis for a one-day art event alongside 60 artists. Check social media closer to the date for more information.

Adult Class: Holiday Cards at GMAC

This four-week course is for adults who would like to learn how to print their own holiday cards. It runs on Tuesday evenings from Nov 12-Dec 3 at Grand Marais Art Colony. Click here for details and registration.

Adult Class: Changing Colors with Woodblock Prints at GMAC

If you've ever wanted to learn how to create a woodblock print, this course is for you! It runs Nov 23-24, so is the perfect class to pair with a weekend visit to Grand Marais. Click here for details and registration.

FEBRUARY

Youth Class: Out of this World at GMAC

Local youth (ages 8-12) can join me at Grand Marais Art Colony for a four week drawing and painting series. The course runs after school on Mondays from Feb 3-24. Click here for details and registration. 

Adult Class: Conceptual Self Portrait at GMAC

Drawers and painters of all levels are invited for this weekend class at Grand Marais Art Colony on February 8-9. Click here for details and registration.

Youth Class: Paint your Pet at GMAC

Spend Presidents Day (February 17) creating an artwork of your favorite animal! This course is for youth ages 5-8 at Grand Marais Art Colony. Click here for details and registration.

MARCH

Youth Class: Pop Art Spring Break Camp at GMAC

Youth ages 7-9 can join me in an exploration of pop art over spring break! The morning camp runs from March 23 - 27. Click here for details and registration.

APRIL

Solo Exhibit: Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery in Grand Marais

I will have a large solo exhibit at the Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery in Grand Marais. The opening reception will be Friday, April 10. The exhibit will run through Sunday, April 26.
