Uplugging in August

I'm heading out on a camping trip this week and when I come back, I've decided to take a break from social media for the remainder of the month. I have been feeling a desire to unplug for a while now. Perhaps it is because I haven't spent as much time in the deep woods this summer where I'm forced to unplug. Perhaps it is because Instagram, my long-standing favorite social media platform, is straying far from it's original mission of connecting people through images. Perhaps its because my six month old has a new goal in life - to hold my phone - which makes me cringe with the behavior I've been modeling.
All this to say, I am going to unplug from Instagram and Facebook for the month of August. Meaning, I am going to sign out and temporarily delete them from my phone. It feels like perfect timing - I don't have any major events to hype up in August AND it's the last month of summer.
What does this mean for my business? Not much. I will still be working and I will still be online - checking emails, shipping orders, etc. I simply won't see what's happening on social media, so email me if you'd like to get in touch. I hope it allows me to both enjoy more time outside, as well as be more focused in the studio.
Come September, I'll be back in action sharing new work and spreading the word about upcoming events as we roll into the holiday season. I'm curious to see how a month off affects my desire to use social media, but, whatever the outcome, I know it is a tool that I will continue to use in some capacity to connect with you.
I will also be investing more energy into my newsletter. If you haven't already, please subscribe! It is the best way to keep up-to-date with my events, shop updates, and classes. My goal is to make it more consistent with at least one newsletter per month. I also have been toying with the idea of a snail mail subscription of some sort! If you would be interested in this, or if you have ideas of ways to connect outside of social media, I'd love to hear them.
A few snapshots from our life in July!
