Virtual Vacation: Lesson 1

Updated: Apr 24, 2020

To start off our virtual vacation, think about where you would like to travel! Would you like to go to a foreign country? A forest with imaginary animals? Another planet? A place in a book you've read? Whether real or imaginary, decide a specific location for your vacation!

Step 1: Plan Your Trip!

Once you have a destination, plan what you will need to bring on your trip. What will you do there? What things might you need? Once you have a list, find a few items from around your house and put them on your table.

My example: I will be traveling to Peru on my virtual vacation because I have always wanted to go to Machu Picchu. I will need hiking boots, a whistle, a sun hat, art supplies, a raincoat, my toothbrush, a water bottle, and my 3D viewfinder (for entertainment!).

Step 2: Draw!

Follow the video tutorial below for a lesson on Contour Line Drawings. All you will need is a pencil, paper, and 3-4 objects to draw (that are part of your packing list!).

Step 3: Sign off!

Sign and date your drawing. You can choose to share your drawing with the hashtag #virtualvacationart. Remember to save all of your drawings (and notes) for our virtual exhibit at the end of the week!
